As I play didgeridoo, I go into a
deep meditative state of consciousness, my brain waves slow down
from Beta to Alpha to Theta and finally Delta. My breathing slows
down which effects all the body systems in a positive way. The non-stop
brain chatter that is unhealthy, stops when I am playing the didgeridoo,
creating gaps in the mind stream, which is not an easy thing to
do in this day and age of so much technology, and fast pace.
As I do circular breathing while playing
the didgeridoo, I can play non-stop for up to 20 minutes. The
longer one plays the didgeridoo, the more relaxed you become.
The Aboriginal people of Northern
Australia have been playing the didg for 40,000 years. The Aboriginal
people used the didgeridoo in ceremonies and for playing around
sick people to help them heal.
There are people that use the didg
as a therapeutic tool. I am one of them.
